public theater (onstage) debut with much ado!

y’all this is happening now! a little less than two months after shane ended i booked the role of benedick in the public theater’s mobile shakespeare unit production of much ado about nothing. it’s a bilingual, musical adaptation of the classic play and it has been an abosolute dream to work on it. we toured through correctional facilities first and now we are in the early stages of our outdoor tour. when i first started applying to grad schools i had my heart set on nyu because of their partnership (and proximity) with the public theater. i still remember my admissions essay and saying something like, “i want to work at the public because of what they represent. i want to give voice to the ones that have been forgotten. i want to create theater that everyone can see themselves reflected in.” spoiler alert, i didn’t go to nyu, and my journey here was a bit more roundabout than going to grad school in nyc, but i wouldn’t change a thing. this show is one-hundred minutes of joy and i hope you get to see it before it’s gone. be blessed and remember that all things work together for good.
